Registering for the edTPA

Tonight I had my student teaching seminar! At seminar, we spent the first half hour or so catching up on each other’s experiences. There was several common feelings: exhaustion, excitement, comfort, dread, and looming sadness. I think we all feel very sad as the end of student teaching is approaching. We all have grown so close to our students it’s hard to say goodbye. It’s also hard to believe some of us have just met our students in January, or only spent 60 hours with them before that for Reading Methods. Now… where do our feelings of dread come in? With the edTPA of course! We spent the second half of the seminar registering for the lovely edTPA. The process to register was very long and we all had to do it step-by-step. My professor had to go around and help everyone. As we registered, it just was a very tense vibe floating through the room. This assessment has been so intensified in our minds that even registering online has us nervous. We all were worried we’d click the wrong thing and be registered incorrectly forever. With the looming deadline to submit the edTPA approaches, it doesn’t make anyone feel any better. Here’s to finally finishing that thing and getting away from it!
