    Courtney's Bio:
    I'm an Elementary Education major at CSS. I also plan to minor in Spanish. Having done PSEO, I came to CSS with more than 60 credits. I'm part of Volunteers Involved Through Action (VITA), Students Today Leaders Forever (STLF), and other clubs! Dance has been part of my life for 10 years, and now I'm trying to fit it into my schedule again. I love spending time watching Supernatural and Once Upon a Time, and reading Harry Potter and other great books. I live in a suite with 3 other girls, and we are always finding something fun to do around campus!

Professional Development

While student teaching, you are expected to follow the same schedule as your cooperating teacher. This also means you should be attending professional learning community meetings (PLCs), staff development meetings, etc. I attend weekly staff meetings with my cooperating teacher with the other teachers. We meet in the library and we have the principal present the agenda of the meeting and then several team members will speak, addressing new information, like PBIS interventions and whole-school assessments. I think it is very helpful to be able to shadow these events. We’ve also had full-day development meetings. That day, we met with all elementary teachers in the district and listened to a presentation on gender identity. Afterward, we went back to the school and discussed PBIS and data goals. Although I don’t necessarily understand all of what they discuss, it helps me build background knowledge for my own future position in which I would be attending professional development.
