    Courtney's Bio:
I'm an Elementary Education major at CSS. I also plan to minor in Spanish. Having done PSEO, I came to CSS with more than 60 credits. I'm part of Volunteers Involved Through Action (VITA), Students Today Leaders Forever (STLF), and other clubs! Dance has been part of my life for 10 years, and now I'm trying to fit it into my schedule again. I love spending time watching Supernatural and Once Upon a Time, and reading Harry Potter and other great books. I live in a suite with 3 other girls, and we are always finding something fun to do around campus!

Field Experience

I just got back from my field experience classroom at Myers-Wilkins Elementary. I’m there for Social Studies Methods in the Elementary Education program. This semester we learned about the nooks and crannies of social studies, how to teach it, and so much more. It was a half semester course, so I actually just finished yesterday. My final project was due at midnight and let me tell you I whipped that unit plan up in 6 hours straight. Starting Wednesday, I’ll have Science Methods. For both of these classes, we have to do field experience in the classroom. I’ve been working with a kindergarten class with a partner. Soon we will begin teaching a few lessons to the students. We have to teach 2 partner lesson plans, with an observer there. I’m nervous, but at the same time really excited. I feel like every single thing I do for my Education classes really is preparing me for my career; each project I do makes me one step closer to becoming a teacher.
